The Teaching and Learning staff offer training and support for instructional skills and strategies called A.P.L. in order to help educators become proficient in classroom management. Using A.P.L. can elicit the following outcomes: - Increased student time on task. - Improved student behavior. - Improved student performance. - Insights into and options for classroom organization. - Motivation of students. - Classroom management techniques that work. A.P.L. training includes the topics of instructional objectives, anticipatory set, closure, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, success ladder, covert and overt active participation, managing student behavior, action plan, management strategies, maximum concept, classroom conditions, teaching episode, feeling tone, level of concern, reinforcers, interest, practice, time and quantity, knowledge of results, and modeling.
